Wow Sucks, such a dumb game, EQ is where its at!

Dumbed down is more appropriate. I can honestly say I had a lot of fun in wow for 6 months or so, until it just became too much for me. Biggest issue was just
how dumb your average player was compared to EQ.

TWC plays on Silver Hand, horde side.
I've heard people say that wow is easy. I've heard people say EQ is easy. I think both statements are true and both statements are false. There has never been any game more unforgiving than old Everquest, certainly. And it required levels of precision and coordination to combat buggy-at-best mechanics that made for some absurdly difficult encounters. Then again, there are things that I've accomplished in WoW that required more skill than anything I did in Everquest. It's like asking what's harder: Wiping to Emperor for six months in EQ while you race others to a spawn and require 90 minutes between attempts? Or wiping to one boss in WoW 100 times in a month before you kill him? The concepts are entirely different. Especially considering that in the EQ days, we didn't have youtube rolling out strat videos and walkthroughs for every fight. I actually prefer old EQ in its game design, and I miss it greatly. But I also enjoy that I can raid in WoW without devoting my entire life to it, and fighting encounters ten-times more complex than anything I saw in Everquest. As far as the user base goes, it all depends on who you associate with. If you aren't very selective in your choice of guild, you're simply asking for trouble. I do enjoy people who bitch about 5 minute corpse runs and having to pay $25 dollars for a server transfer WHEN IT SHOULD BE FREE!!1!!!111!11oneone In the end, though, WoW, EQ, or any MMORPG is only as fun as the people you associate with. It's the social aspect that draws you in. |

I played wow for a few years, it is a fun game for it's style. But I got sick of the 12 yo mentalities you would randomly get lol. Also was bored with lack
of quests while leveling. I mean, giving there are alot, but you would usually end up doing every zone by the time you leveled a second char. I ended up with 3
80s, a 76, a 71, and a ton of mid 60s. But don't get me wrong, WoW is a fun game, I played alliance on Gilneas. I personally prefer the amount of choice
you get through eq while leveling. lol at least they aren't going to end up like AoC or Warhammer Online.

I do play, Illuvator. To some degree I will say it's a dumbed down game - but it's not required to be a time sink like EQ. With kids, and a husband who
is no longer interested in gaming (jerk)... if I'm going to play something it needs to be something I can turn off with little notice and know I can pretty
much pick up where I left off when I can log back on (which is not daily).
I think part of the reason I don't like WoW right now is because I'm on PvP, and it seems like there are a LOT of kids there. Light leads to hatred, dark to delight. The best of all things are done in the night!

Eh, I suppose that's an alright excuse
I played on both a pve and a pvp server, and to be honest I didn't notice that much of a difference one way or the other as far as kiddies went. That could have also been time frame though, since I played the pve back near release and the pvp post-bc.

I finished my 3000 quest achievement awhile back. 3000 fucking quests. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of things wrong with the WoW leveling process, but questing is one of the areas with dramatic improvement over EQ. |

Yeah there's plenty enough quests and shit these days Nand you can blow through for xp / aa while leveling up. EQ's changed a fair old bit I think
since you were here mate.

God I miss AAs.
I also miss content that wasn't balanced around always having an exact certain number of people. In old content, every person you added made your raid stronger (until you started to lag out and die). Even in instanced/capped content, the fights were manageable with less than a full raid. So when you showed up to a raid, you felt like you were genuinely helping kill a boss. In wow, if the members of your raid can't meet stringent damage checks, you don't win. Talents and specs are mandatory, not optional. I loved that in EQ I could grind some AA to improve myself and help the guild. Again, you can't do that in WoW. And nothing (NOTHING) was cooler than twinking. Old content stayed relevant as long as you could run your level 3 shadow knight to loot Dain's Axe. I don't know how long I'll play wow, and I don't know if I'll ever play another mmo after this. But if I do, the raiding game will be more like EQ, for sure. |

I miss EQ tradeskills! Ugh I hate how WoW tradeskills are so cookie cutter and every single person can have theirs maxed and it took no effort at all. I
can't believe I actually *miss* farming for spider silks hah. I also think WoW doesn't have nearly the sense of community that EQ had, though I
guess that's the problem with instanced content, there is no reason to have to interact with anyone outside of your guild. Racing for spawns wasn't
always fun but it forced you to build love/hate relationships with people outside of your own little circle. I am just thorougly bored with WoW right now, I
don't want to make *another* alt, I don't want to do dailies, I have no goals other than raids.

The professions in WoW really peeve me. You NEVER fail, EVER. As much as I hated failing on a spell attempt in EQ sometimes, I miss that aspect of feeling like
your character actually had to build skills - not just have them handed to them if they could afford or farm the regeants.
The community in EQ will never be achieved in another game... I don't even think EQ 2 comes close. EQ had a draw to it which I will never find in another game. If only the time sink aspect of it could be removed, it would be perfect. Light leads to hatred, dark to delight. The best of all things are done in the night!

Ah I remember my heart pounding when I was doing a big non trivial combine for someone! I had forgotten about that! How exciting when it actually succeeded,
nothing in WoW gives me that feeling, and it's only a tradeskill combine!

Whenever someone brags about being 450 in a TS on WoW, I just slap them and laugh. Compared to EQ TS, where you could use 100 regents for a single skill-up
(worst case scenerio), WoW TS has it good lol. Aside from that, I think my days of playing Tenen are over. I'm debating playing WoW since you can just stop
what your doing one day if someone drops in with a kegger, and pick it up the next day. Because truthfully, you can still play successfully on WoW, no matter
how drunk you are
So if you still jump on WoW, I fart around on Gilneas. Jus look for Frigg. |

I play alliance on Blackwater Raiders and my toon's name is Thrill. It's an RP server and, while it's still full of kids and tards, it's a lot
more bareable than any other server I've played on.

Anyone who would brag about maxing a crafting skill in an MMO must be nearly retarded anyway. That damn autocombine must piss you off too, remember when you
had to click every step of the way with subcombines?!?! That really brought meaningful challenge to making virtual sandwiches to increase your theoretical
internet damage! These damn kids today!
And quite frankly I think old EQ was far more geared to playing shitfaced than twitchy ass WoW. |

Fush and I are on Laughing Skull. We tried the PvE and couldn't stand it. Although I'm not great @ PvP it is more challenging. I miss the old days
of EQ too and wish I had appreciated it ore then not knowing that you can never recapture that gaming experience. I wish I had the time to invest in EQ but
between parenting and renovating this house I just don't have the ability to devote that time.
Verucca Asault 78 and Retired. Verucca would still puttering around Ally side on Laughing Skull if I had time. |

With Seeds of Destruction and the newest changes they have made to the game its alot more group friendly. Mercs help to fill in the spots for those missing the
cleric/warrior in the group. While not as good they can get you going until you are able to get a real person. When you die you longer have to loot your corpse
and money is now weightless. Armor/weapons is available as global loot for level appropiate content. Its not the best but can fill in gaps for those that
return after a break from the game. There is also non-visable slot stuff that available from an NPC vendor.
Group gear at the high end is approximately 2/3s the high end raiding level which makes its really decent compared to alot of the previous expansions.

Shout out to that crazy fuck Anduran for having all the tradeskills maxed first on the server. I think I was second but I could be wrong.
